FIGHTING FOR NEW JERSEY
Meet Tahesha
Tahesha Way is a mother, attorney, Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State who has dedicated her life to fighting for New Jersey families.
Growing up, she learned faith, hard work, and community from her union parents. After surviving a cerebral hemorrhage at 19 and being denied insurance coverage for her recovery, she re-taught herself to read and earned her law degree.
Tahesha started her family in Wayne, serving as an Administrative Law Judge, and then Passaic County Commissioner and Board Director, where she expanded food access and improved local schools
As Secretary of State and Lieutenant Governor, Tahesha pushed back on Trump’s attacks on democracy, and delivered jobs and tenant protections. Now she’s running for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional district to defend democracy and make New Jersey more affordable for working families.
Tahesha lives in Wayne with her husband, Charles, and their four daughters.

ON THE ISSUES
Tahesha’s Plan
-
Tahesha knows firsthand how hard it can be for families to make ends meet. As Passaic County Commissioner and Board Director, she expanded services without raising taxes, allowing families to stay in North Jersey – she’ll do the same in Congress, lowering costs by cutting junk fees and increasing the cap on SALT deductions.
-
Living with a preexisting condition, Tahesha understands just how important it is that we protect and strengthen the Affordable Care Act. As North Jersey’s voice in Washington, she’ll defend the programs our seniors rely on, slash prescription drug costs, and make sure women have access to reproductive healthcare.
-
As Secretary of State, Tahesha led New Jersey through one of the most consequential fights for voting rights in modern history, standing up to Donald Trump’s attempts to seize personal data and restrict voting access. In Washington, she will continue to protect our democracy and fundamental right to free and fair elections.
